Machine-readable marks fail for one reason more than any other: the code was printed too small for the reader to resolve the modules. The 100 mm printer exists to remove that failure mode.

Why width decides readability

A data matrix or QR code is made of modules, and a scanner needs each module to be large enough to resolve against the surface finish. At 58 mm the modules come out marginal — they scan on a good surface under good light and fail on a brushed or curved one. At 100 mm they have the room they need.

If your marks are text, logos and serial numbers, the 58 mm printer is the more economical unit. If anything has to be read by a machine, print at 100 mm.

Traceability work

Serialised parts, UDI carriers, lot and batch codes, and any mark that feeds an ERP or quality system through a scanner rather than an operator’s eye.

Longer runs between changes

One 108 m roll against 10 m on the narrow tape. On a production run, that is the difference between changing tape once and changing it repeatedly.
