The square format of Type 1 suits a compact logo, a maker’s mark, or identification on parts where there is little flat surface to work with — small fittings, instruments, tooling and hardware.

Fine detail at small size

A small marking area puts more demand on line weight than a large one. Thin strokes and small lettering reproduce well through the photographic process, but the finer the artwork, the more the stencil benefits from careful handling and black oxide marking rather than deep etch.

Service life

Several thousand marks with careful handling and black oxide marking, considerably fewer under deep etch. Figures are indicative and depend on the design, electrolyte and current setting.
