Standard Marking Felt

SQ felt is the standard marking medium for electrochemical marking. It holds the electrolyte, carries the current from the marking head to the workpiece, and gives a clean, even mark across the whole stencil area.

Cut it to whatever size your marking head takes. One sheet of 375 × 500 mm covers a large number of standard heads.

When SQ is the right choice

SQ suits shops that mark occasionally rather than continuously — a few parts at a time, tools and fixtures marked as they come through, pre-delivery identification on small orders.

For continuous production, HQ felt holds marking by-products far longer and needs washing and replacing much less often. If the operator is making mark after mark through a shift, HQ pays back the small difference in price.

Care

Wash the felt when marks begin to lose definition. Rinse thoroughly, let it dry, and refit. Replace when the surface no longer holds electrolyte evenly.

After M22 the felt must be washed every time — deep etch loads it faster than surface marking does.
